Why Choose Our Stall Plates?
-
Durable and Built to Last
Our stall plates are made from premium Black Walnut or Maple wood and coated with a high-durability finish to lock in all the details of your special animal. We also offer low-cost refinishing services to clean up and bring back that speical shine to your stall plate whenever needed.
-
Personalized Service
From the first conversation to the final product, we work one-on-one with you to bring your vision to life. Have a unique design idea? Note it in the "special request" field and we can make it happen!
-
Locally Handmade
Each stall plate is handcrafted with care in our small workshop, where every grain of wood tells its own story. No two pieces are ever the same, so each one is made to celebrate the bond you share with your animal in a way that feels warm, personal, and enduring.
Frequently Asked Questions
How does the order process work?
The order process is simple and customized just for you. When we receive your portraits, one of our local portrait artists will begin hand-drawing your portrait. Then, we put everything together in a mock-up so you can see everything as it would be engraved. Send us your feedback, and once we get the go-ahead from you, we begin engraving!

Can I request revisions after ordering?
Yes! If you made a typo after ordering or want to make any changes, please contact us. Regardless, we're always in touch with your product mockups before any engraving is started.
If you'd like to change the animal or reference photo for your portrait, please contact us immediately after placing your order. Once our artist begins the illustration, we can no longer switch to a different animal. At that stage, only adjustments or refinements to the existing portrait can be made.
What does "handmade" mean at Canter Craft?
Every CanterCraft piece is made with care and craftsmanship.
- For Stall Plates: Our wood is sourced and manufactured locally by an independent woodworker in Calgary. Each plate is engraved, finished, and assembled by hand in our own workshop to ensure quality and precision.
- For Keychains: All engraving is done in-house, allowing us to oversee every step for a clean, professional finish.
- For Portraits: Each portrait is drawn by one of our independent Alberta-based artists, bringing your horse’s likeness to life with individual artistic care.
From sourcing to final polish, every CanterCraft item reflects our commitment to craftsmanship and quality.
How long does production and delivery take?
Because every CanterCraft order is handmade, please allow around two weeks for the full design and production process.
We’ll stay in touch throughout your order. You’ll receive a mockup sketch of your stall plate or keychain before engraving begins to ensure you’re completely satisfied. Once approved, your order is typically crafted, finished, and shipped within 5–7 business days, depending on the current queue and your location.
What if my product arrives damaged or incorrect?
If your order arrives damaged or with an engraving error that’s our fault, we’ll make it right. Contact us within 72 hours of delivery and we'll be in touch.
Can I make a completely custom order, or order in bulk?
Yes! We offer bulk pricing and custom orders. Contact us through our Custom Orders page and we'd be happy to chat.
